Dr Richard Connolly
Dr Richard Connolly leads Oxford Analytica’s coverage of Russia and
Eurasia. He is also an associate fellow at the Centre for a New American
Security (CNAS) in Washington, D.C., and the Royal United Services
Institute (RUSI) in London.
Richard is the author of The Russian Economy: A Very Short
Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2020), and Russia’s Response to
Sanctions (Cambridge University Press, 2018), as well as co-editor of The
Sea in Russian Strategy (Manchester University Press, 2023). He is also
the author of numerous academic articles and policy reports.
His past positions include director of the Centre for Russian, Eurasian and
European Studies (CREES) at the University of Birmingham, and associate
fellow on the Russia and Eurasia Programme at Chatham House.
Richard has written for the Washington Post, CNN, the Times, and Foreign
Affairs, and his quotes have appeared in the Economist, Bloomberg,
the New York Times, and other major news outlets.
