Prabowo Subianto was sworn in as president of Indonesia on October 20. He comfortably won the February presidential election, in which he had the tacit backing of incumbent Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo; Jokowi’s elder son Gibran Rakabuming Raka was his running mate. 

With Prabowo’s inauguration, his policy agenda has come under the spotlight. The president has ambitious spending plans. Moreover, his many overseas visits in recent months indicate that foreign policy will be a major area of focus.
